Artwork & Designs

FAQ's about how best to prepare your artwork and designs when customising clothing.

If you need to add text or names and numbers to your design, our online designer has a limited number of fonts.

Our default fonts are:

  • Ballatines Script
  • Block One
  • Block Two
  • Civic

If you don't see a font that you like, we may be able to substitute a font with one of your choice. This will depend on whether that font is suitable or not for the chosen decoration method, especially with embroidery which may not be possible. You can place a note on your order or contact the office if you'd like to request a different font.

Our expert artwork team will take the design that you provide and make it into a print or embroidery-ready file. They will also prepare an artwork proof for you to approve. We charge a small amount for the setup of this artwork. The good thing is, that you only pay for this to be done once, and can then use the same artwork on subsequent orders without the need to pay for a setup.

If you need to make adjustments to approved artwork in the future we will make a charge for this service.

We offer a wide range of embroidery colours based on the Madeira Classic range of threads.

If you are looking for a specific thread colour, you can consult the shade card on this page. Please inform us of any specific thread colours you require in the notes field during checkout.

If you cannot find the colour you need, please make a note during checkout and our team will contact you when processing your order.

Please remember that viewing colours on a screen may not be representative of the colour you would see with the naked eye.

We will send you an artwork proof for any NEW designs – we will not commence production until these are approved by you.

If you are re-using an existing approved design, you will not receive a proof request.

We accept almost all file formats - for full details, consult our Artwork Guidelines page.

When we print your artwork for mugs and bottles, we wrap the print around the product. So it's a good idea to think about what you want to appear depending on where someone may hold the product. This is especially important for products with a handle, as what you see, and the people looking at you whilst you hold the item will see different things.

The 'Details' tab on each product shows the print area in mm. It is best to prepare your artwork at these sizes.

How artwork is applied to a mug or bottle

Our artwork team will follow your instructions and create an artwork proof. It will be helpful if you can provide some directions in the Notes or Special Instructions field when uploading your artwork. For example, you could write "Fit my design to the maximum printable area".

For all new designs, we will provide an artwork proof for your approval, this arrives sometime after you have placed your order.

By default, we do not provide mockups of the final product with your designs, creating mockups is a time-consuming process and the cost is not included in our standard services. Rest assured, our team is committed to ensuring the highest quality and accuracy in every order.

If you choose to request a mockup, the service may incur an additional cost.

For most garments, you can add up to 3 separate customisations using the website. If you need 4 or more customisations please contact the office and the team will be happy to assist you.
